Joshua Schell provides comprehensive dermatologic care to patients at Sound Dermatology in Abilene, Kansas. His approach emphasizes thoughtful listening, patient education, and evidence-based treatment tailored to each individual.

My journey into dermatology

While pursuing my degree to become a Nurse Practitioner, I never initially imagined working in dermatology. The specialty seemed complex given the limited exposure I had during my training. After graduation, however, I was offered a position at a dermatology clinic where I received excellent mentorship and hands-on training.

Over time, I developed a deep appreciation for dermatology and the wide range of conditions it encompasses. The ability to diagnose and treat skin conditions while helping patients feel more comfortable and confident quickly made dermatology a rewarding and fulfilling specialty. Within a few months, I realized I could not imagine working in any other field.

Joshua brings nearly five years of dedicated dermatology experience and over a decade of experience in healthcare to his patients. During this time, he has provided comprehensive dermatologic care for patients of all ages, including evaluation and treatment of common skin conditions, inflammatory diseases, and suspicious skin lesions.

His clinical approach emphasizes careful evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and treatment plans designed to achieve the best possible outcomes for each patient.

Joshua believes that effective dermatologic care begins with listening. Every patient has unique concerns, goals, and experiences with their skin health. By taking the time to explain diagnoses and discuss treatment options, he works collaboratively with patients to develop care plans that fit their needs and lifestyles.

Joshua and his wife are proud parents of two wonderful children, Harper and Emma. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing hobbies such as cooking, woodworking, camping, fishing, and hunting.
